COLOURESKO YOUR LIFE
Welcome to a new era, phase, year,
an episode or however you prefer to
call the time of creating a NEW YOU!
Isn’t it great that we can invent ourselves over and over again? We can start a new life every day, week, month, or year. I’ve never been much into writing down a list of New Year’s Resolutions, I like to reflect throughout the year and set goals whenever I think they would make sense to set. But obviously, the end of a year is great timing to do the thinking and come up with ideas for the new one.
Now, last year was a hell of a surprise for every one of us. It’s been a year I had absolutely not planned for and by the end of March 2020, my goals list from December 2019 wasn’t relevant anymore. I had other and more important things to figure out. I’ve learned a lot in a very short time (which was painful) and my new plans were called The Make Over Tracker. Without going too much into detail today, I have realised two things:
1) 2020 gave me a needed break from the stressful side of city life.
2) Times of crisis, not comfort, definitely accelerate personal growth immensely.
Last year, and it continues into this year, has shown that we cannot live the way we used to live. Although there is a life-threatening virus out there, we humans are actually the worst disease on this planet. We’ve gone too far and not only destroy our environments but very much ourselves.
Are we creating lives that help us become more content and feeling at peace or do we keep getting disconnected from what it means to be human and don’t even realise it?
When I was seven years old, I made a promise to the stars that I will always do my best to be a good human being - a good friend, daughter, sister, student, citizen, etc. I have a high EQ that helped me to figure this out early on but as I grew older I had to face the distractions and challenges life throws at us.
Admittedly, I feel a bit prepared for this ongoing lockdown life. As a child and teenager, I learned how to spend time with myself, how to “entertain” myself, and make the best use of my time. I wasn’t popular in school and that gave me a lot of time to focus on hobbies, the things I wanted to try and learn. I had a lot of hobbies and a full schedule. Boredom is something that I only felt a few times when sitting in an office working in a limited position with uninspiring tasks to do. But otherwise, I don’t know what boredom is. I however love daydreaming and reflecting. In those years, I’ve created the basis of what I call Colouresko Your Life today. Colouresko is a lifestyle, a way of living. My attitude is, to always make the best out of any situation, to learn new things, to keep an open mindset and use art and creativity to balance my days and weeks with pure joy, play and fun.
In 2021, I want to share how I approach difficult situations, how I make art my best medicine and mental health stabiliser, how I take steps to grow and reinvent myself at home and at work. I will share more about the books I read, the tools I use to achieve my goals, the art I create, who I consider my mentors and what I’m learning from interacting with others. Let’s not be too sad and pessimistic about what’s happening in our world right now and look at the good side and focus on the things we have in our hands.
The journey to colouresko your life has started right now.
